Marsh Inc. is the world’s number one insurance broker. Owned by the major US corporation MMC, Marsh has experienced explosive growth in Europe primarily through acquisition. Post-acquisition, Marsh Europe faced aggressive growth targets that would only be achieved by fully exploiting the expertise and resources of the whole group. This was not happening as countries and business units continued to work in silos and resist change. An attempt to force change through the introduction of matrix management had compounded the issues and our brief was to help Marsh win over its people to this new way of working.
